Religion in the prison system?
I spent some time in a military prison. In the maximum security section, a Chaplin would come by every week cells offer prayer and counseling. Gen in the population, services have been meeting weekly for Catholics Protestants, Islam, Wicca and studies. Depending on your security level, you might have things like lockets, prayer rugs, and runes. Many inmates said they were God or gods, because they had reached the bottom of their life and religion helped them to recover standing. Many inmates just wanted a break from the grind to go sit in a chapel for a change of scenery. Some have used services to make and receive contraband. I do not know what it's like in a prison run but I understood that civil groups like the Aryan and the Black Muslims use religious services to introduce the hate speech. Does anyone know more about it?
In prisons in Ohio that would be impossible that the guards are present at any meeting of inmates and incitement to riot or the indoctrination of hatred would violating prison regulations on everyone landing several levels in an isolation cell or hole. Although this kind of things happen, they occur in secret and travel from one cell to openly in a group meeting under the auspices of religious services. In addition chaplains and invited speakers must pass a rigorous screening process. DRC, at least in Ohio doest't allow anyone to waltz in civil ole through metal detectors and barbed son to incite unrest inside.
