You may be curious about tarot card reading that is why you are reading this article. No one can blame you there as tarot reading is really a very interesting subject. Who isn’t interested in having some way of knowing what the future brings, or having our questions answered by something more reliable and more tested than a magic 8-ball that we usually used. Tarot reading is anchored on the belief that there is a possibility to peek at what is to come. Some also believe that tarot reading is basically opening up the subconscious’ power and releasing what we already know will happen in the future. Tarot reading basically starts with the deck. There are 78 cards all in all, 22 major arcana cards and 56 minor arcana cards that look like the regular playing cards used in casinos. The major arcana cards are comprised of the following:

5. The Emperor
6. The Hierophant
7. The Lovers
8. The Chariot
9. Strength
10. The Hermit
11. The Wheel of Fortune
12. Justice
13. The Hanged Man

18. The Star
19. The Moon
20. The Sun
21. Judgment
22. The World
The minor arcana cards are divided into four suits, cups, wands, pentacles and swords. Their specific meanings are available online and most decks that you buy actually have a separate sheet of paper defining the cards.
The tricky part in reading tarot cards actually comes in when you are already laying out your deck. This is called the spread. Free tarot spreads information is available in many occult shops or you can visit your local library to get a deep grasp about them. Here are some easy to use spreads that are good to try for beginners.
1. Four card spread
The cards are laid out in a diamond shape. The topmost point is your love life, the left most point is represents your career and its opposite end, the rightmost point, denotes your finances. The lower pinnacle is your health and happiness.
2. Single card spread
This is usually used for answering yes or no questions.
3. Three card spread
Cards are laid out in a horizontal position. The first card is all about your influences, your past. The second card represents your present situation, what you are dealing with and how you are currently dealing with it. The last card is the future, it denotes what will happen based on what you are doing right now and what your position will be in the future.
4. Celtic Cross
This is a slightly difficult spread to use but it is by far the most famous spread that a beginner may be curious to try it. It tackles almost all aspects in life which is why it is very popular. It uses ten cards, 6 in a cross, 4 placed vertically parallel to it.
Aside from libraries and book shops, there is actually a huge library of online information on free tarot spreads so try using your favorite online search engine and see which spread best fits you.
