I have a rotator cuff tendinitis. I was told to take daily mobic, keep it in a sling for 10 days and ice it. Doc says to gentle pendulum exercises at night to prevent frozen shoulder, but I need to rest completely for 10 days. If it does not heal by then I should do an MRI to check for a tear. Doc said it was unlikely. How long does it take to heal? Can I work in my scarf? I qualifying meets in January and I need to stay in shape. Also, could I have a tear if my shoulder is a little weak and it is grinding?

Do not work in the sling. The purpose of the canvas is to immobilize the shoulder. You need rest. It's probably not a tear, but a problem of collision in the area of the rotator cuff.
