How effective brightness cut diamond?
Looking to buy a pear (teardrop) shaped diamond to be used in a pendant my wife. At first I was looking at diamonds that have been about 1.5 carats, but then noticed for about half the price, I can get a diamond is 1.0 carats and is about the same size (length and width), but obviously much less depth. This diamond is about half the price. So the question is, from the smallest diamond has less depth, assuming all else is equal, will lose brightness over the greatest? There other considerations that I should do before buying a small diamond?
It's all angles and faceting on the correct way that the Light passes through the stone so that brightness is improved. A shallow stone may have marks against it and so can a stone deep. A beautiful stone is really nothing to do with size, and personally, I prefer a high quality stone to a larger stone with "problems" (Inclusions, carbon spots visible to the naked eye, milky areas, poor cutting, nothing less than a color rating F — it's my short list). Have a jeweler to assess and recommend that each stone is the perfect size you want and what is the best investment.
