What is the difference in the taste of whiskey?

What is the differentiating factor between the taste of single malt, blended, single grain and so on. thank you.

Technically, the difference in production. A blended scotch or whiskey is one in which several, any where from a dozen to a hundred different whiskeys are mixed together. A single malt scotch is one in which one whiskey, beginning at the end, is used. From the perspective of labeling, blended whiskey must be aged at least three years of age on the bottle must be that of the youngest whiskey in the blend. This is not a problem for single malts, as there is only one age bottle. As part of the whiskey that matters, enjoyment, there is no reason why a mixture whiskey would be lower or higher a single malt. The difference is that in the single malts of a region have the characteristics of the region come through in the tape. It is difficult with mixtures, because you have many different whiskeys blended together. It's like listening to a violin from the listening an orchestra, using the analogy orchestra again.
